The Kind Nest

What is The Kind Nest?

The Kind Nest’s mission is to equip children with the skills and knowledge they need to be kind to their minds, bodies and others. We believe this requires a whole-person approach, supporting the child’s physical, emotional and social well-being, as well as equipping them with some knowledge about the fundamentals of general health and well-being.

As a PTUK registered Therapeutic Play Practitioner and trainee Play Therapist, Harriet offers non-directive therapeutic play interventions for children - which are specialized, confidential therapeutic interventions providing children age-appropriate support to work through individual feelings and challenges.

Harriet has also used her knowledge as a health coach to create The Kind Nest group sessions - which are playful, age-appropriate sessions structured around the guidelines of our ethos to educate children about health and well-being. The sessions - covering elements such as healthy eating, mindfulness techniques and compassion for others - strive to equip children and their care givers with health promoting and resilience-boosting techniques through conversation, guided activities and story telling.

Play Therapy - One-to-One Non-Directive Therapeutic Play Sessions

Play Therapy is a child-centred therapeutic intervention which provides children a safe, confidential space to express their feelings and explore experiences, events and emotions in an age appropriate way. Harriet is certified by PTUK as a Therapeutic Play Practitioner to offer one-to-one non-directive Therapeutic Play sessions. These powerful interventions are completely child led, and provide children a non-judgemental, fully accepting safe space to explore safely through play.

Therapeutic Play sessions are suitable for children aged 4 to 13, with moderate levels of need; supporting children navigate and work through challenging feelings and circumstances - such as family conflicts, anxiety, bullying, friendship issues and low self-esteem.

The Kind Nest Health & Well-Being Group Sessions

The Kind Nest sessions are educational health & well-being sessions which utilize playfulness and story-telling to educate children about important aspects of health and well-being, in an age appropriate way. Centred around our ethos ‘Kind to our Minds, Kind to our Bodies, Kind to Each-other’ - The Kind Nest sessions explore topics such as mindfulness skills, nervous system regulation, healthy eating, self-love and acceptance and taking care of our planet.

The Kind Nest sessions are generally suitable for children aged between 6 and 11, and can be adapted to suit the needs of the group. Due to the nature of the sessions groups should remain relatively small - for example a classroom of students.
